The Worst Appointment Ever

Author's Note: This is a piece that I did with a group of people, and in this piece, we were supposed to come up with a certain word or phrase and when they told us to say our word, we would say it and put it into our story. The words are bolded.

Robert walked slowly into the dentist's office, scared and bewildered by all the ominous machinery.  He was very unenthusiastic about the operation. The dentist had his machine inside his teeth and wouldn't let go, like the time the ball that Robert was playing with rolled under the dog, and he wouldn't get up. The dentist did not pull the machine out happily, he ripped it out as hard as he could. The dentist then gave him some medicine to make pulling out his loose tooth less painful, as the dentist gave him the medicine, suddenly everything became colorful, he felt like he was on top of the Empire State building in New York City. When the medicine wore off, he saw that the tissue in his mouth was as red as blood.  He jumped out of the chair and ran out the door, because to him, the appointment was over, and he decided that he would never go there ever again. Robert ran into a student.

The Horrible Circus Clown

Author's Note: This is a piece that I did with a group of people, and in this piece, we were supposed to come up with a certain word or phrase and when they told us to say our word, we would say it and put it into our story. The words are bolded. This is the first of a few stories, that I will work on.

As soon as the elephant left the center ring, Henry leaned forward to see which circus act would come out next in this strangest circus he had ever seen. So far there were bicycling-riding bears, lions jumping into pools of flaming water, and seals who tossed bowling pins to one another, balanced on the tips of their noses. Henry leaned forward, he almost fell out of his seat when the forest performer appeared… his greatest fear became realized. It was the clowns! The first clown was plump and fat, the second was short and as skinny as a broom, and slowly, the last clown came out, and Henry covered his eyes and tried to forget the face of the clown, his eyes were as red as blood, his face was a white as fog, and his hair was spiked up, and worst of all, he was carrying a chainsaw!

When he got home, Henry hid in the sink. Henry had always been afraid of clowns, ever since his sixth birthday, when a clown shot him out of a cannon, and after seeing that clown, he would never go to the circus again. When his mom found him under the sink when she got home at 8, she put him in his bed. The giant evil clown was chasing him with a cannon, and when he got close, he shoved Henry and put him in the cannon, and he went flying to Vermont. He woke up and realized that it was only a dream, he had had 3 nightmares that night, all about the clown, he ran out of the house and during the racquet ball game, all of the players looked like the evil clown.

He sprinted to the nearest mental center, and checked himself into the room 121, the room that had nothing but a white wall, floor, and ceiling, and Henry stayed there, fearing that the evil clown would find him. He took some medicine, that would keep him awake, but they didn't work, because he fell asleep, and of course, the clown was chasing him, but this time he was chasing him with a flamethrower, and when he almost burnt him to a 1,100,000th of a human, a strange person came and he grabbed the clown, threw the clown, and the clown went flying over the rainbow. He woke up and the stranger was there, he gave him a wing, and he told him that if he kept it, he would never have a nightmare.Henry looked at the wing for a second and when he looked up, the strange person disappeared, he thought it must have been Preposterous Ronald, but when he asked the nurse, she unintelligently said he had died two days ago. Henry asked how long he was in there, and she said he had been there for and entire month. His confusion was flaming, it felt like only a day. An iguana had leapt right past him, and Weird Eric walked by yelling, "Come back here Steve!" that’s what Weird Eric does, he chases his pet iguana Steve. That night, he had the wing and another one he found, but they didn't work, because the clown chased him in an autumn environment, and when he almost caught him, a girl and boy appeared out of nowhere, and the girl and boy used their power over dreams to cast the clown out of Henry's dreams forever. He never forgot that strange person. Henry finally got the courage to go the circus.

The Balloon Ride that they will never forget.

Author's Note: This is a piece that I did with a group of people, and in this piece, we were supposed to come up with a certain word or phrase and when they told us to say our word, we would say it and put it into our story. The words are bolded.

The balloon rose higher and higher into the skies as the wind picked up and began to push the entire basket full of people way off course. Suddenly several sandbags fell off one side, tipping the basket, and sending the balloon drifting even faster over a forest. After what felt like hours, the wind finally slowed down and it gave the people in the balloon a chance to  land on the ground safely, everybody honestly said that they would never do that again. When they left, the balloon driver went swimming for a while. When he got back, he got some more sandbags, and he flew right back into the air.

The next people involuntarily were pushed into the balloon. After two hours went by, the people wanted to leave, and when they landed they left. But before he went back into the air a bunch of students said that they wanted to ride, so the owner let them. The ride was really bumpy, but after a while, it got less bumpy, and it was smooth sailing from there on. Right before they were going to land, the balloon suddenly fell into a river and the balloon had popped and was stuck under the tree, so they cut it and let the river take them to wherever it was going.  They soon rode past an Italian guy, who looked at them like they were nuts. Everything was fine until the river reached a waterfall, where they quickly fell down it.

The basket flipped over, and they went plunging down into the cold water, when the realized the water wasn't deep, they swam to shore and ran to the warmth of the sun's rays. They fell asleep and slept for what felt like hours, just like people did before the dinosaurs where extinct. When they woke up, an old man walked up to them and told them they could stay at his house, and when they asked his name, he said it was Eugene Johnson. In his house, there were pictures of Texas, and in his fridge, beside the cabbage was a repulsive piece of cheese, and he told them he would throw it out. When they all left Eugene Johnson's house, they all agreed that even though that was a messed up day, they would never forget it.

Problems that could be changed at Asa

Author’s Note: I am writing this is  persuasive piece because I have never written a persuasive piece during the time that I have been in the Academy. I also try not to make the sentences and paragraphs too long. I am trying to get out of the habit of repeating things over when I don’t have to. This piece is about how certain things at Asa Clark could be fixed, and what the gain would be if that problem was fixed.

Has there ever been a problem with a school and you wanted it fixed? There will always be problems with schools, and we just have to deal with it, in this piece I was trying to make it seem as if I was telling the teachers about the problems and what would be the gain if it was fixed, I am writing about the big problems and some small problems. There are a few things that could be fixed.

If the day started at 8:00 am it would be better than 7:30 because it gives parents and students and extra  half hour to get ready and get to school, especially people who don’t live in Pewaukee, and have to get driven to school or have to ride on a bus for over an hour. The day would be better if it ended at 2:30pm, because it would give  people more time to do homework, or read a book at home. It also would change the time that people get home, for example someone rides the bus and gets home at 3:00, if there were no problems they would get home at 2:45, which would give them 15 extra minutes to do stuff at home, it would also give people an extra time to walk home and would also allow them to get home earlier than they normally would. If they had a student check the soap in the bathroom  every week, they would lower the chance of students and staff members getting sick, because people who can’t use soap because they’re out of soap and have to use the soap in class or wait until they get to a class that has a sink to use soap, and if they were using their laptop they would touching keys and all of the germs would move from their hands to the computer. Students would have shorter classes if they were an hour, instead of  70 minutes, though they would have more classes and less time to do work.

It would be safer if gym class, track and cross country didn’t run outside if it is wet, because when people are running on a wet surface they can slip and fall easily, which would make parents angry that the teachers made their son or daughter run on a wet track, I know I would be angry if the teacher or coach made my kid run on a wet surface, and I know that most students wouldn’t want to run on a wet surface. If a student wants to look something up on YouTube, they should at least tell the teacher what they want to watch, and the teacher could watch to make sure they are typing in the right thing, and not searching something inappropriate or searching for something that they didn’t tell the teacher. If anybody doesn’t like that, then they don’t have to use YouTube and can use something else to find what they are looking for. A lot of students who get hungry around the time that A lunch is, but have B lunch would be joyful if the lunch room was expanded to hold all the students, and lunch should be 45 minutes instead of 26, because students who have just gotten their lunch and it is time to go outside wouldn’t be able to because they are having lunch, and I don’t know what kind of person doesn’t like being able to go outside. It should be ten minutes that students can go outside, because they would get a few extra minutes to hang out with their friends, unless it is a rainy and gloomy day, because it is damp and cold, and who would want to go outside in that weather? Nobody I know would want to go outside when it’s raining.

The middle school students wouldn’t have to walk as far if buses dropped students off in the morning where they did before, because it is a short walk for the high school students, and it would be shorter for middle school students, because they have to walk the whole distance from the bus to Asa Clark and it would get cut a fourth of the distance they have to walk from bus to ACMS. More people could use the water fountains if they fixed the one in the gym, that way people in gym could use both of the water fountains, instead of waiting behind five or six people just to get a drink, and fix the other water fountains that don’t work as well so the water would come out high enough that people don’t have to lean down far to get a drink of water, it would also allow people to use any of the fountains, instead of using one of the fountains to get a drink instead of using the any of them, because if everybody used one fountain on the first or second floor and didn’t wash their hands because there isn’t any soap, there would be a greater chance of students and staff members getting a cold, or a fever, or any contagious disease that spreads by touching something that another person touched, because it would spread to the next person who used the water fountain. 25$ seems like a lot of money for lunch, but when ice cream is 1.50$ or two dollars, or when Cousins Subs are about four dollars, they run out of money fast, so they should change the price of ice cream to one dollar or 1.50, and soda and other drinks to a dollar, and the subs should be three dollars, and Ala Carte should be a dollar, and that will allow students to have a sub or ice cream without wasting their money.

There are quite a few things that could be fixed at Asa Clark, and they would only have to spend money on soap, and the water fountains, the other problems are things that could easily be fixed, so they wouldn’t have to spend money fixing the other problems. Please comment about what I could have changed or fixed, so I can make this post better.

Academy 21

The Academy 21 program is a good program for people who want to learn at their own pace, instead of learning about the Civil War, taking a test and moving on, even if it is a topic you enjoy, instead, you could do a full report, essay, or a response, instead of moving on.

There are some advantages of the Academy, not having to move from class to class every hour, having the freedom to learn at your own pace, collaborating with other students, planning your own field trips, advisory conferences, having your own blog to write posts about something you want to write about, not having teachers nag you to get your work done all the time, and having cubicles to decorate so you won't feel like you're sitting at a blank and boring desk that looks like anybody could sit there. There are a couple of disadvantages also, the teachers aren't always checking on the students to make sure they're working and not gaming and goofing around, and the Academy 21 program is only in the middle school so all of the eighth graders have to switch to the normal program when they get to high school.
